The “Normal” Path Never Made Sense to Me
I’ve never been the type to just follow the script: go to school, get a degree, land a 9-to-5, work for 40 years, and retire. Maybe I tried for a little bit, but deep down, I always knew it wasn’t for me. I’ve seen too many people hate their jobs, wake up dreading Mondays, and just go through the motions. That’s not the life I want for myself, my fiancé, or my kids.
So, instead of choosing stability in the traditional sense, I’m choosing control. Control over my time, my income, my creativity, and most importantly, my family’s future.
Why a 9-5 Doesn’t Work for Me

Let’s get one thing straight: I respect people who love their jobs and thrive in a structured environment. But that’s just not me. Here’s why:
- I hate feeling capped. In a 9-5, there’s always a ceiling on income, creativity, and freedom. I want unlimited potential in all three.
- I value my time too much. No job should dictate when I eat lunch, when I go on vacation, or how much time I get with my family.
- I need variety. I hyperfocus on different things at different times, and I want to build multiple income streams rather than rely on one paycheck.
- I refuse to trade my passion for a paycheck. Gaming, business, and content creation are things I truly enjoy—so why wouldn’t I find a way to make them work?
The idea of building something on my own terms, where I wake up excited to work on my own projects, feels right.
What I’m Building Instead
I’m not just quitting the 9-5 life for the sake of quitting—I’m building something better. This isn’t just about me. It’s about my fiancé, my kids, and the future we’re creating together.
- A Website & Brand That Actually Matters – I’m blending gaming, business, and real-life growth into a platform that helps others while growing something meaningful. If you’re thinking of starting your own, I highly recommend SiteGround for web hosting, it’s simple, affordable, and beginner-friendly.
- Community Over Everything – I want to build a group of people who support each other—whether it’s in gaming, business, or just life in general.
- Multiple Income Streams – This isn’t just about one hustle. I’m setting up affiliate marketing, real estate, content creation, tournaments, sponsorships, and more to make this a long-term, sustainable business—more on that in THIS POST.
- A Legacy for My Family – My fiancé supports everything I do, even when she doesn’t fully understand it yet. My kids are watching, learning, and already asking, “Are we going viral?”—so I’m showing them that building something for yourself is possible.
The Challenges & Why It’s Worth It
Betting on yourself sounds great, but let’s be real—it’s hard.
- There’s no guaranteed paycheck. I have to build this from the ground up.
- I have to stay disciplined. There’s no boss telling me what to do—I have to hold myself accountable.
- People won’t always get it. Some will doubt me. Others will think it’s just a hobby. But that’s fine—because I know where this is going.
Even with all the challenges, I wouldn’t trade this path for anything. Because at the end of the day, I know:
- I’ll never wonder “what if?”
- I’m spending real time with my family, not just giving them what’s left after work.
- If I fail, it’s on me—but so is every win.
Final Thoughts: Why You Should Bet on Yourself Too
I’m not saying everyone needs to quit their job and do what I’m doing. But I do think everyone should ask themselves:
- Am I actually happy with how I spend my days?
- Am I building something I truly care about?
- Am I in control of my time, income, and future?
If you don’t like the answers, maybe it’s time to start betting on yourself too.
Because here’s the truth: no one is going to build your dream for you. You either do it yourself or spend your life building someone else’s.
