I expected to like LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
I didn’t expect to get completely sucked into it.
Ten hours later, I’ve gone from “Let’s check this out for a bit” to already planning how I’m going to 100% the game.
This isn’t a perfect game, but it absolutely nails something that a lot of modern games struggle with:
It’s fun.
Not stressful.
Not sweaty.
Not trying to turn every gaming session into a second job.
Just fun.

My Verdict:
The opening hour or so is a little slow, but once the game opens up, it’s incredibly difficult to put down.
What I’ve Been Doing For 10 Hours
Almost entirely main story.
Usually in open-world games, I’ll get distracted every five minutes.
This time?
The story kept pulling me forward.
The missions have enough variety to stay interesting, and Gotham feels much larger than I expected.
Gotham Is Bigger Than I Expected
After playing a lot of LEGO games over the years, I expected a fun little hub world.
What I got feels much bigger than that.
There have been several moments where I completely forgot I was playing a LEGO game.
Not because it stops being LEGO.
But because the world feels substantial.
Enough is happening that you can get lost exploring without constantly feeling pushed back toward the main objective.
It’s one of the better open worlds I’ve seen in a LEGO game.

The Balance Between Kids and Adults Is Really Good
It’s clearly designed for kids.
But it never feels like it’s ONLY designed for kids.
There’s enough exploration, collectibles, secrets, and Batman fan service that adults can genuinely enjoy it too.
A lot of family games lean too far in one direction.
This one feels right in the middle.
Whether you’re playing solo, with your kids, or you’re just a grown adult who still enjoys LEGO games (no judgment here), there’s something to enjoy.
My Biggest Complaint
It’s not a huge complaint.
The game is funny.
I just expected it to be funnier.
Previous LEGO games had this goofy charm that constantly made me laugh.
Legacy of the Dark Knight still has those moments.
I just don’t think they’re as frequent.
The humor is there.
The silliness is there.
I simply expected a little more of that classic LEGO absurdity.
That’s really my biggest criticism after ten hours.
Which is probably a good sign.
Completionists Are Going To Love This
I’m already planning to 100% this game.
That’s usually how I know a game has me hooked.
When I start thinking:
“Okay, but what am I missing?”
The amount of collectibles, unlockables, secrets, and side content feels substantial enough that completionists are going to be busy for a while.
If you’re the type of player who sees 97% completion and refuses to move on until it says 100%, welcome home.

The Coolest Surprise: Real LEGO Sets Unlock In-Game Content
Certain physical LEGO Batman sets include QR codes that unlock exclusive content inside the game.
I think it’s pretty freakin’ cool.
It doesn’t feel necessary.
It doesn’t feel pay-to-win.
It feels like a fun bonus for collectors.
If you’re already buying LEGO sets anyway, getting extra content in the game is a nice perk.

This probably isn’t your game.
Legacy of the Dark Knight is much more about exploration, collecting, discovery, and enjoying the ride.

Final Thoughts
Ten hours in, I’m having a blast.
The opening hours took a little while to fully grab me.
But once Gotham opened up and the game found its rhythm, I was completely locked in.
An 8/10 feels right.
Because right now I’m already thinking about my next session.
And that’s usually a pretty good sign.
