Primal Season 3 Is About to Wrap – Now’s The Time To Watch

If you’ve been sleeping on Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, you’re officially running out of excuses.

Episode 9 of Season 3 just aired, which means the season finale is coming next week. And if you’ve never seen the show before, this might be the perfect moment to jump in.

Because Primal isn’t just another animated series, it’s one of the wildest, most unique shows on TV right now.

What Primal Actually Is

At its core, Primal is a brutal, emotional survival story set in a prehistoric world.

The show follows Spear, a caveman, and Fang, a dinosaur, who form an unlikely bond while trying to survive in a violent and unpredictable world filled with monsters, rival tribes, and everything else that wants to eat them.

Here’s the twist though:
Most of the show has little to no dialogue.

Instead, the storytelling happens through:

  • animation

  • action

  • music

  • raw emotion

And it works shockingly well. Entire episodes can go by without a single word spoken, yet you still understand exactly what’s happening.

The result feels more like watching a moving painting or an animated survival epic than a traditional TV show.

The Mind Behind Primal

If the style feels familiar, that’s because the show comes from Genndy Tartakovsky, one of the most influential animation creators of the last few decades.

He’s the mind behind classics like:

  • Samurai Jack

  • Dexter’s Laboratory

  • Star Wars: Clone Wars (the original animated microseries)

Tartakovsky has always had a reputation for visual storytelling and cinematic animation, and Primal might be the purest version of that style he’s ever made.

Season 3 Is Almost Over

The latest season of Primal is now one episode away from its finale.

Episode 9 just aired, setting the stage for the final episode of the season next week. Without getting into spoilers, the show has continued doing what it does best: throwing viewers into unpredictable, high-stakes survival stories that can swing from quiet emotional moments to absolute chaos in seconds.

If you’ve been following along weekly, the finale is shaping up to be a big one.

If you haven’t started the show yet, there’s still time to catch up.

My Quick Take

Shows like this are exactly why I like digging around for weird animation.

If you enjoy original ideas, strange storytelling, and animation that actually tries something different, Primal is absolutely worth checking out.

It’s the kind of show where you start watching one episode out of curiosity… and suddenly you’re three episodes deep wondering what insane thing is going to happen next… Kind of like another show I recently got into recently.

The Finale Is Next Week

With Season 3 Episode 9 now out, the final episode of the season arrives next week.

So if you’ve never watched Primal before, this is a great moment to jump in and see what the hype is about.

Just be prepared.

Because once the show gets going, it doesn’t really pull punches.
