At this point, I feel like I should title this “How to Build a Brand While Questioning Everything You’ve Ever Known.” Because, honestly? Starting ChannlerG has been a mix of breakthroughs, ADHD rabbit holes, and realizing that half the stuff I thought I needed… I actually don’t.
This blog isn’t just about wins, it’s about what’s actually working, what’s a total waste of time, and what I’ve learned so far while trying to turn this into something real.
Why I Started ChannlerG
I didn’t sit down one day and say, “You know what the internet needs? Another brand.”
I just knew I didn’t want to work for anyone else anymore. I knew I wanted to build something that actually mattered. And I knew if I didn’t start now, I never would.
So I bet on myself. On my family. And I started.
No clear niche. No business model. Just a weird combo of gaming clips, entrepreneurial chaos, family moments, and the truth about trying to build something real.
What’s Actually Working
- People respond to honesty. The blog about quitting my 9–5 hit way harder than I expected.
- Gaming + business is more relatable than I thought. Most people are playing AND building something now.
- Showing the behind-the-scenes gets way more engagement than trying to act like I’ve got it all figured out.
None of this is polished. But that’s kind of the point.
1. Writing First, Perfecting Later
I used to think I needed a fully designed website, a logo, branding guidelines, a color palette, and probably a ChannlerG mascot before I could even start.
Turns out?
No one cares if your site is ugly in the beginning. What matters is content.
The best move so far?
Writing blogs before worrying about making things “perfect.” Having actual content makes everything else easier—SEO, social media posts, even the structure of the site itself.
Forget perfect, just write! SiteGround made launching easy, and Quickbooks keeps my books clean.
2. Keeping It Personal & Real
I didn’t want ChannlerG to feel like another cookie-cutter “make money online” site. So far, leaning into the personal side of things (family, gaming, business mistakes, and real stories) has felt way more natural.
People don’t just want a “guide to success.” They want to see the process, the failures, the stupid moments (like my son roasting me for raging in a game). That’s what makes this worth following.
3. Balancing Gaming & Business Content
I was worried about mixing gaming, business, and real estate, but so far? It works. Everything connects:
- Gaming teaches strategy, patience, and problem-solving (all useful for business).
- Business gives structure and purpose to gaming (instead of just playing for fun, now I’m learning how to make money from it).
- Real estate? It’s the long-term play, just like building ChannlerG itself.
As long as I keep it real and make content that fits naturally, it doesn’t feel like I’m stretching too much.
Gaming and business work together. I stay organized with Skylight Digital Calendar and keep the fun with our PS5.”
4. Not Trying to Do Everything Myself
At first, I tried building my entire website solo. Huge mistake. I loved learning it, but it slowed me down like crazy.
Lesson learned: If something isn’t your strong suit, hire it out and move forward. Now, I focus on writing content and handing off the website build to someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
I handed off the website build to the pros at Wehrenberg Web Designs, so I could focus on content and growth.
5. Realizing This is a Long-Term Play
The biggest shift? Understanding that this isn’t a “launch and get rich” situation.
I’m not expecting huge traffic or massive affiliate income overnight. Instead, the focus is on building something valuable that will pay off months (or even years) from now.
That means:
- Building the content foundation first (so SEO actually works down the road).
- Growing an engaged audience over time, not overnight.
- Focusing on sustainable growth, not gimmicks.

What Bombed (And Why)
- I posted random content with no structure.
- I didn’t explain what ChannlerG was until like 6 posts in.
- I tried to do everything at once: blogs, TikToks, gear reviews, deep reflections.
Lesson? Simplicity wins. Consistency matters.
1. Overthinking Branding & Design Too Early
I spent way too much time tweaking logos, color palettes, and fonts when none of it mattered yet.
Turns out, your brand isn’t your colors—it’s your content and the value you bring.
Not saying design doesn’t matter, but trying to make everything perfect before launching is a trap.
2. Expecting Social Media to Blow Up Overnight
I thought posting a few clips and blogs would instantly explode into thousands of followers. Reality?
Social media is a slow burn unless you go viral.
Now, the focus is on:
- Posting consistently, even when growth is slow.
- Interacting with people, not just posting and hoping.
- Focusing on SEO-driven content so people find me organically.
3. Trying to Learn Too Many Things at Once
One day I was learning about SEO, the next day video editing, then affiliate marketing, then Discord community building. I was all over the place.
Lesson: One thing at a time.
Right now, the focus is blogging and SEO because that’s what will bring long-term traffic and income.
Once that’s steady, THEN I’ll focus on streaming, tournaments, or other projects.
4. Wasting Time on “Small” Monetization
I almost spent way too much time figuring out how to make money from gaming tournaments before even having an audience. That would’ve been a waste.
What I realized:
- Affiliate marketing & SEO blogging are the best way to start generating income.
- Tournaments, sponsorships, and other revenue streams come later.
- You can’t monetize an audience you don’t have yet.

The Real ChannlerG: Who It’s For
ChannlerG is a content brand for people building something real, figuring it out in public, and trying to grow without selling their soul.
It’s for people who:
- Left the 9–5 (or want to)
- Play games, but also take life seriously
- Are tired of fake content, fake gurus, and fake grindset BS
- Want tools, content, and real conversation about growth, money, recovery, and purpose
It’s not just about me. It’s about what we can build while I show you what I’m building.
What You Can Expect
- Weekly blogs (real talk only)
- Behind-the-scenes content (editing, wins, screw-ups)
- Gaming videos (usually chaotic)
- Business tips without buzzwords
- Personal growth that doesn’t sound like a poster from a therapist’s office
Eventually? Courses. Merch. Meetups. Collabs.
But right now, this is Chapter 1. And I’m not faking a single page.
Where This is Going Next
Now that I’ve got the right foundation, the next steps are:
- Finish the website & get everything running smoothly.
- Publish at least 20-30 solid blog posts (the more content, the better for SEO).
- Start slowly growing social media & community engagement.
- Experiment with YouTube and video content (once I have a good workflow for writing blogs).
- Expand monetization beyond just affiliate links.
As I expand into video, My OBSBOT Tiny 2 will be my go-to for creating killer content.
The biggest realization?
This is an evolving process. I don’t have everything figured out, but that’s the point, documenting the journey while figuring it out is what makes this interesting.
Final Thoughts: Why This is Worth It
It’s easy to get discouraged when you’re starting something new. The website isn’t perfect, growth is slow, and there’s still a ton to learn.
But here’s why I’m excited:
- I actually enjoy this. Writing, building a brand, gaming, helping others: It doesn’t feel like “work.”
- I’m playing the long game. I’d rather build something meaningful over time than chase short-term gimmicks.
- This is bigger than just me. ChannlerG isn’t just a blog or a gaming site: It’s a community of people trying to turn their hobbies into real opportunities.
So if you’re reading this, whether you’re into gaming, business, real estate, or just figuring out your own thing… I’d love for you to stick around. Let’s build this together.
Final Thoughts
If you’re into this kind of thing: Building something real while watching someone else figure it out and fall on their face a few times, then you’re exactly who I built ChannlerG for.
Follow along. Jump in. Or just lurk. Either way, this thing is only getting louder.
Some links may be affiliate links, meaning I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. But these are tools and gear I genuinely use or trust.
